The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), a division of the IC² Institute at the University of Texas at Austin, honored Dr. Michael Webber on Wednesday with the inaugural John Sibley Butler Distinguished Alumni Award. The honor took place at the 25th annual celebration and portfolio company graduation. Dr. Webber helped establish and now serves as co-director of the Clean Energy Incubator at ATI.
Webber’s award is named for Dr. John Sibley Butler, who serves as a research fellow at IC² and directs the Herb Kelleher Center for Entrepreneurship at McCombs School of Business. Dr. Butler was present for the ceremony and lauded Dr. Webber by saying, “My passion is blending academics and entrepreneurship, helping young companies develop from the earliest stage to long-term growth businesses. That’s Michael’s passion too, and the list of those positively impacted by him over the years is long and growing.”
