Laura Rivera

Graduate Research Assistant

Laura Rivera is a dedicated Graduate Research Assistant at the Webber Energy Group where she is currently pursuing a dual-degree M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Thermal Fluid Systems, and a Master of Business Administration. She obtained her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin in 2017. During her undergraduate studies, she conducted research on innovative management pathways for produced water for oil & gas production. After graduation, she gained 6 years of diverse professional experience in project management and engineering within the rotating equipment services sector. In 2024, Laura returned to the Webber Energy Group to delve into the techno-economic and policy aspects of hydrogen production pathways.

Previously, as a Senior Project Manager at EthosEnergy, Laura led numerous strategic projects, managing a portfolio that generated substantial revenue and consistently met operational targets. Laura led a team of three project managers, fostering a collaborative environment and enhancing team competency. Before her tenure in project management, Laura held various engineering positions, such as repair engineer, development engineer, and project engineer, where her dedication to operational excellence and team leadership earned her recognition, including the 2021 CEO Award and graduation from the 6-month Leadership Excellence Program (LE01).

Laura is an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), through which she contributes to the broader engineering community. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing padel, bike riding, and supporting the Colombian and U.S. national soccer teams.

Laura is committed to integrating her technical expertise and business insights through her research to drive progress in the dynamic energy sector. Her overarching aim is to leverage her diverse capabilities to develop innovative solutions that address both present and future challenges in energy production and sustainability.
