Julia Conger

Julia is a senior electrical engineering honors student with a specialization in power systems and renewable energy, along with a minor in French. She is currently in the EE department's integrated bachelor's and master's program and plans to finish graduate school in December 2019. She works as an undergraduate researcher comparing strategies in city sustainability plans in America's largest cities and analyzing their effectiveness in reducing carbon emissions.
 
Julia's academic interests include renewable energy, energy storage, power system modeling, and controls. She did research previously at UT's Advanced Power Systems Control Laboratory, and has done internships at ERCOT and at Electric Power Engineers in the Austin area. She will be continuing work in the utilities industry in summer 2018 at Austin Energy, where she will be analyzing data for the Austin Sustainable and Holistic Integration of Energy Storage and Solar Photovoltaics (SHINES) project. Julia is vice president of UT's IEEE Power and Energy Society and was named the IEEE PES Outstanding Scholar for Region 5 in 2017. For fun, she enjoys playing guitar and taking dance classes whenever she can.
